Liberia Report Day 2 – 30 June 2015

The food had arrived at the masjid where the distribution was taking place, in Barnesville. Brother Abdul Qadir (the imam of the masjid) had organised a number of volunteers, men and women, to help us pack the Iftar food parcels. The food parcels consisted of; a 25k bag of rice, 2 litres of oil, 2kg of fresh onions, 4kg of sugar, 3kg of corn flour, 3 large tins of mackerel, a 200g bag of salt, 20 sachets of tomato paste and 50 small blocks of Maggi cubes. We finished packing and distributing over 200 Iftar food parcels for this area by zuhr time. Alhamdulillah all went well with many smiling faces. The people could not believe that we came from a different part of the world to distribute the aid ourselves as opposed to giving all the aid to the local imam to distribute, as is normal in this part of the world. This was the first distribution of its kind in this area by any charity from the UK.
